NEW MUSIC: “Savior” by Secret Company

Once upon a time, I stumbled across Secret Company, a band of four guys from across the pond, and then proceeded to talk about them again. And again. And again. Well, since then, they’ve released some more material, played some more shows, and - oh yeah - have just recently had their first single, “Savior,” debut on UK radio. Now, more and more music bloggers and press are catching on to the Secret Company train, allowing me to not so quietly bask in the disgustingly pretentious self importance of recognizing a future hit when I hear one.

Uploading their debut single on their YouTube channel along with a music video tribute to some of music’s fallen heroes, “Saviour” aptly introduces Secret Company to the world in exquisite fashion. This too short indie rock gem is exactly the type of haunting and mysterious track you would expect from a band with the word “secret” in their name. Honestly, the more I listen to it, the more excited over just how accurate of a depiction this song is for Secret Company. Every decision surrounding this song and every element within its arrangement is on point, blending perfectly to create a picture of intrigue and secrecy. The length of the track leaves you craving more while the expansive and reverberated instrumentation underscores the light and pure vocals, lending a cool stirring edge to their warm brand of alternative rock. Pair that with reassuring lyrics and you’ve got a masterpiece designed to simultaneously soothe and unsettle the soul.

Between this new single, all of the covers and mashups that they’ve come up with, and their other original tracks, Secret Company is just a step away from no longer being my secret anymore (pun most definitely intended). Honestly at this point, I’m just waiting for them to come and tour the US so they can swing by my town for a round of high fives and my chance to scream “I called it” at an obnoxiously loud volume in the face of literally anything that moves.

Do yourself a favor and get well versed in Secret Company because they are an incredible group of guys. Listen to them on Spotify, pre-order “Savior” on iTunes, and follow them on Twitter because their tweeting game gets an A+ from me.
